PRESIDENT'S REPORT AT GENERAL ASSEMBLY
CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES 24 April 2010
Dear Members and Friends,
Today is another momentous day for all of us as it is our first General Assembly since our incorporation as a non-profit
organization with the Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC)- Cebu City, Philippines last December 11, 2008. We are
here today to conduct the election of our national officers which will comprise the 12 members of the board or what we called
the Board of Trustees (BOT). We will also finalize the amendments to be made to our by-laws as to be submitted for SEC
approval.
May i also take this opportunity to review and/ or cherish with you the memories, the highlites and accomplishments we had
since our organization’s founding in Manila on October 19, 2001 up to the present. With great pride and deep appreciation to all of you, please find below our achievements in chronological order.
September 02, 2001 -------- A Yahoo website with address “friends_of_bislig@yahoogroups.com” was created by Jose Frias mainly
as a mean of social inter-actions between friends from Bislig, Surigao del Sur.

==================================================================================================
March 31, 2008 ------------- FOB President Mario T. Buenaventura who is going for his indefinite leave of absence appointed
Martin V. Santos as FOB Officer-in-Charge (OIC). With his permission, the OIC was granted with
full authority to re-structure the organization.
Not longafter, the assigned OIC immediately form his interim set of officers in a period of few weeks as
follows:
President ---------------------- Martin V. Santos
Vice President --------------- Jose S. Kanapi
Secretary --------------------- Carmen Cata-al –Morales
Treasurer --------------------- Agnes Asido-Sarmiento with the assistance of Vicky Morelos-Rico
PRO --------------------------- Lyle M. Arcaya
RH Manila -------------------- Portia Abano-Alba
RH Cebu --------------------- Vicenta Alciso-Adriano
RH Davao -------------------- Virgilio Quijada
RH NY/ U.S. Eastcoast –-- Azucena Urbiztondo-Pugh
RH Europe ------------------- Grace Dejarme-Anderson
RH Canada West ----------- Zola Licup-Pariseau
RH Middle East ------------- Daniel B. Laurente and later on succeeded by Rodrigo M. Cayna
The first objective of the OIC is to bring the organization into the next level of becoming a socio-civic
Organization by registering it with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with its
Headquarter in Manila as where it is founded.
The structural Table of Organization (T.O.) was made with brief job descriptions for the above positions;
the Constitution and by-laws was drafted for several months along the design of its Corporate Seal;
projects were discussed whether for a short or long term, type of fundraisings to be done, charity works,
livelihood projects, etc.
As the Manila group cannot facilitate for registering our association with the Securities and Exchange
Commission in Manila for various reasons, the request was made by the OIC and gladly accepted by the
the Cebu group as they are much closer to each other and already with fast growing membership.
Our Secretary who was originally working on this registration, turned over the job to the Cebu group for
the reason that she lives outside Cebu and would be very difficult for travel just to make follow-ups.. With
the help of the Cebu group, the last piece of the puzzle was completed by forming the Incorporators as
required in the incorporation of our organization. The Incorporators were as follows :
Carmen C. Morales
Vicenta A. Adriano
Rex O. Derilo
Elmer Roberto S. Balaba
Maria Glenna B. Asido
Grace D. Anderson (proxied by Glorietta B. Sanglay)
Renato U. Gawat
Martin V. Santos (proxied by Minda S. Torre)
August 16, 2008 ------------ Cebu Chapter held their induction of officers and acquaintance party at SMC Social Hall,
Mandaue City, Cebu.

special visit of RH Grace D. Anderson from Europe. It was held at Grand Convention, Cebu City.

December 11, 2008 -------- Acquired SEC Incorporation Registration Certificate and approved FOBI By-Laws from Securities &
Exchange Commission, Cebu City, as a non-profit socio-civic organization. It was a great relief for
all the organizers to have this after months of hard work.
The final list of Board of Trustees during the incorporation are as follows :
President ---------------------- Martin V. Santos
Vice President --------------- Virgilio Quijada (elected by BOT to fill up this position vacated by Pepot
Kanapi who went for indefinite leave.
Secretary --------------------- Carmen Cata-al –Morales/ later succeeded by Roxanne Abano-Jocson
Treasurer --------------------- Agnes Asido-Sarmiento/ later succeeded by Minda Serrano-Torre

RH NY/ U.S. Eastcoast –-------------------- Azucena Urbiztondo-Pugh
RH Europe/ Middle East -------------------- Grace Dejarme-Anderson
RH Canada West ----------------------------- Zola Licup-Pariseau
Due to discrepancies found by SEC Lawyer during the registering process, we were obliged without
much option to merge Middle East with Europe as the numbers of BOT submitted are 12 (which
prevailed) while the numbers of regions are 8 plus 6 Corporate positions which totaled to 14. The
Australia/ New Zealand region was merge with Cebu for the meantime, and Middle East with Europe.
