Comments: Creating this website was really a major undertaking, all who visited here were surely grateful to those who took the initiative. I do hope you can include some more features like highlighting the attractions or some ecotourism destinations, investment opportunities and linkages, and most important a FOB Directory. I know this is asking to much but this will be very productive for each and everyone of us to look back and maybe help the struggling/ stagnant economy of Bislig. More power to you.

Comments: Hi,
I have browsed your website for countless times but it is only lately that I have done some browsing again. I am a grand daughter of Fortunato Polina, an heir to Andres Polina whom I believe was one of the Pioneers of Bislig.
Thank you for providing these wonderful information and anecdotes about Bislig. I hope to one day be able to chronicle my grandfather's tales in FOB.
I was prompted to contact you because I am going back to Mangagoy this November (after a decade). I am inspired to "interview" my lolo about his escapades in Mangagoy and I hope I can share some memories with you. I am just amazed that the family is one of the pioneers of Bislig:) I think we really have belittled something so amazing and I am sorry.
Will try to dig down some memories to share with you soon. I hope I will be successful and once again, thank you very much.
It feels good to know that there are people who cares for beloved Bislig :)
God bless.

Comments: Hello! Can I borrow some of your photos so I can post them to my profile? I just need about five of them so I can tell my friends about your website. Thanks.
Hello Martin! I'm glad you asked. Well, let me see. First of all, I’m not really good at writing stuff, you know so just excuse my grammar. I grew up in Mangagoy but I was born in Butuan. The years 1970 to 1987 was my growing up years in Mangagoy. I finished my High School at the De La Salle John Bosco College previously John Bosco School in 1987. It was the best school I've ever been to.
My father, the late Virgilio Calo Sr., was initially a supervisor in the paper mill. He worked his way up the corporate ladder and became manager but I can't exactly remember which department he was. During the early 80's, there were a lot of revamps and reorganizations in the company due to the dwindling economic outlook of PICOP. In other words, it was no longer making a lot of money. I can still remember when Mr. Salazar took office as the Executive President. I was 11 or 12 years old at that time. It was, at this time that my father was hopping from office to office. Firstly, he was assigned as manager in the Port Services. As things went down, so as my father's career slowly eating him away. He was eventually assigned at the disposal section which was once rumored to be a very dreadful job because all the managers who went through this office get ultimately “disposed” of. But, actually, the general atmosphere at that time was of common fear and gloomy uncertainty among the employees. We knew that everything will, in due course, spiral downhill.
In 1987, my father was transferred to Iligan City to oversee the whole plant there which was already closed down and all its operations terminated. He died of cardiac arrest 2 years ago.
So, as you can see Martin, I’ve spent almost half of my life around PICOP. I’ve missed the trees in Cluster I Bay View Hill where during the afternoons they would whisper into my ear with a sweet sounding melody only I can hear. In summertime when school is out, I and some of my friends would gather at the water reservoir they call the “dumpsite” at the far end of Cluster II and we would swim at the muddy waters, catch some “tilapia”, and play tennis. My neighbors were Drs Limlingan, Urquico, and Ang, Montero, Sulit, Nimis, Marcojos, Ungab and Cruz. Sometimes I would go to Cluster II where the Roxases, Banataos, Bacalans, Ubaldes lived just to play with their children.
I am very close with the Cruzes. They are a big family. The names of their children were Lawrence, who is presently the mayor in Iligan, Rommel, Isadora, Lluch, Frankie. I can’t seem to remember the name of their eldest.
Anyway, thank you Martin. I was just asking permission from you if I could use some of your photos if they are copyrighted of course. I am by, the way, based in Cagayan de Oro now. Your website is awesome! I really love to hear and read some interesting stories about PICOP and Mangagoy in general but I think that it’s still under construction. I’m quite positive that more and more people will visit the site, especially those who were previously connected with PICOP. Kudus to you and your family!

Comments: Hello,
Congratulations! This is my first time to have come accross a website for us Bisliganons and this is really an answered prayer. Although I've been browsing at skyscrapercity forums and came across enlightened minds from all over Mindanao. Didn't participate in the forums though kay wala koy ma 'say', I've been so detached from everyone and everything in Bislig and felt the need to somehow reach out and learn more about our beloved Bislig. I spent my elementary years in JMS de la Salle sa Forest Drive Village, kay didto man mi nagpuyo, dapit sa gate 2. Then nag high school ko sa John Bosco School sa Mangagoy.
I must admit though that I am more interested in the pioneering, livelihood and Bislig history sections. Maybe I should explain myself a bit: I am currently working for a small, non-profit organization here in Ghent, East Flanders in Belgium. My organization is called Victoria Deluxe VZW, and one of our visions is to give alternatives to groups of people who aren't always given the chance to voice themselves and we believe that thru these community arts projects, we'd be able to learn of their stories and present it out there in different media (theater, short film documentaries, long play independent films, debates, symposiums, etc.)and try to confront with the reality of these lesser groups and spread awareness to eventually challenge the so called higher institutions responsible for making the world a better place to live in. One of our projects for 2010 centers on work / labour but because of the vastness of it, the project team got divided into sub-categories and so here I am, doing some research work and thought that probably the best thing to do is to start searching within myself and of course, Bislig, my childhood, the schools, and PICOP came into mind. We made a documentary about ship builders in Antwerp during the 60's and it was a trilogy of the workers' strife, as well as management's in trying to save the company from closing its doors for good. Obviously it gave me the inspiration to sort of present PICOP in a similar way.
So here's my big question: pwede ba ko (pretty please)mohangyo sa inyo if I could have some of your materials (photos, texts, films, interview prints, etc.) para magamit nako as research materials para sa among project? Kay 2 years man ang time frame sa among project and it will be very intensive and they really liked the idea of how things are outside Belgium as well.
Thank you in advance and I sure hope to get a positive reply from you and salamat sad sa inyong time and effort for this website. We all seemed so lost before. We all got dispersed and lost contact with the majority and now see, with just a few clicks we're back in time in Bislig!
PS: I'm from batch 91 sa Bosco. I remeber names like Jerose Derilo, Eden Malazarte, Leo Duce, Sasha Castro, Lisa Carlos, JJ Kanapi, Juel Mordeno, Elsa Veracion, May Ann Solis, Melissa and Vernon Vivero, Portia Pasigna, Juliet PLaza, Amcee Marie Balanzar, Suzette Pimentel, Hazel Tanoy, Antonette Toyco, Miriam Cuanan, Alma Bautista, and many others.
PS again, please include me in your mailing list, thank you.
Ciao,
Joe

Comments: hi! I was born in Bislig. My father used to work in PICOP and lived in Tabon, Forest Drive, and other places- we kept on moving then, I don't know why but I still remember those fires and the war in 1980's. Jesus, I was 6 then and experienced all those chaos but I loved the place. I had memorable times there when I was still a kid. I wished I can visit Bislig again, I missed our church the one in a hill with the big statue of Jesus overlooking the highway road. I love it. Wish that you can post old and new pictures of that church and PICOP too. Papa used to bring us there during Sunday's Family day, we watched movies and bought bibingka with cheese. :) Thanked you Bislig!
